DollarsPerGallon collects as little as possible. This page describes current practices in plain language.
What this site collects
You can read prices and use every calculator without creating an account or entering any personal information. Calculator inputs are processed in your browser and are not stored on our servers.
Analytics
When analytics is configured, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate usage: page views and interactions such as calculator use and chart range changes. When analytics is not configured, no analytics script loads at all. There is no advertising tracking by default.
Newsletter
If you sign up for The Gallon Brief, we collect your email address along with the signup time, the page you signed up from, and basic browser information used for spam prevention. That information is forwarded to the email service provider that delivers the newsletter and is used only to send it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
Service providers
The site is served by a hosting provider, requests price data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration from our servers (your browser never contacts the EIA directly), and, when configured, uses an email platform for newsletter delivery and Google Analytics for usage measurement. Each provider processes only what it needs to perform its function.
No sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information, and newsletter addresses are never shared for third-party marketing.
